On April 11, 2015, DMB participated in its 25th year of Rebuilding Together.
This year’s project was a collaborative effort between DMB, Benevilla and the City of Surprise to revitalize The Surprise Community Garden.
Created as part of a City of Surprise All Ages Initiative in 2009, The Surprise Community Garden serves as an important space for area residents, school children and organizations to learn about growing food and also to provide opportunities to help alleviate hunger in the community.
With two coordinators and approximately 100 intergenerational gardeners tending the 34 leased garden beds, this active Garden needed some care and nurturing.
Thanks to the almost 50 volunteers and partners, including Community Garden gardeners, Benevilla staff, DLC Resources, Somerset, and SiteWorks who helped make these improvements including installing additional raised garden beds, new perimeter landscaping, a brick amphitheater seating area, as well as spreading granite throughout the entire garden.
Since 1973, Rebuilding Together brings volunteers together to improve the homes and communities. Long committed to community service, since 1990, DMB has participated in Rebuilding Together to bring our employees together to improve the quality of life of the communities in which we work.
