Opportunities for the Future – Federal Leadership

DMB has a long history of working with national policymakers and we will continue to work with local and federal officials as they re-prioritize public investments in infrastructure and craft regulations on environmental quality.

Today, numerous Federal agencies are committed to DMB’s livable community approach. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), through an interagency partnership for sustainable communities, have teamed to develop Federal policies to promote and incentivize livable communities at the local level. This comprehensive planning approach will create a holistic vision for future communities where transportation, land use, employment, and housing plans will reduce vehicles miles travelled (VMT), reduce emissions and greenhouse gases and add meaningful open space for communities. By leveraging our experience and expertise in land planning and entitlements, we can become a national model for livable community planning.

Building on our History of Livable Communities

Honored with design and planning awards from around the nation, DMB’s philosophy of legacy and livability remain the platforms for our future communities.

Our communities, some more than 15 years strong, live better than traditional master planned developments. The physical connection of mixed-use retail/employment centers, neighborhood schools, local trails and telecommuting residents work together to create authentic neighborhoods. DMB’s commitment to our communities doesn’t end with the built environment. For communities to truly live, residents, employers and visitors must be connected to each other and the larger area. DMB’s Community Life teams encourage volunteerism and advocacy with local schools, nonprofits and other organizations.
