Founding Partner Drew Brown

Drew M. Brown

Chairman of the Board

Drew Brown is Chairman of DMB Associates and one of the founding partners. For more than 28 years, Mr. Brown has led the strategic direction of the Company and its portfolio of communities and businesses. Prior to co-founding DMB, Mr. Brown was a partner and director in the Phoenix law firm of Fennemore Craig, where he specialized in real estate and commercial lending matters. Mr. Brown has been active in a number of professional, civic and community organizations.

Mark Sklar

Founding Partner

Mr. Sklar is a founding partner of DMB Associates and its affiliated companies and currently serves on the Board of Directors. Mr. Sklar also serves on the Board of Directors of Banner Health Systems and is active in a number of professional, civic and community organizations. Some of the boards in which he has previously served include Valley Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Phoenix Jewish Community Center, Ballet Arizona, ASU Foundation, Phoenix Jewish Federation, Council for Design Excellence, KJZZ National Public Radio and KAET Channel 8 Community Advisory Board, the Phoenix Symphony.

Founding Partner

Bennett Dorrance is a founding partner of DMB Associates and its affiliated companies. Mr. Dorrance serves on the Board of Directors of TGen, a genomics research corporation, Insight Enterprises, Inc., The Nature Conservancy Arizona and Campbell Soup Company and is active in a number of professional, civic and community organizations. He has also been involved as a board member of Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management, Phoenix Country Day School and the Desert Botanical Garden.

Executive Leadership Charley Freericks

Charley Freericks


Mr. Freericks is responsible for strategic management and leadership of DMB’s Arizona activities. He has over 14 years of experience with DMB, including executive leadership roles and overseeing masterplanned community and commercial development operations. Prior to joining DMB in 1997, Mr. Freericks served in executive roles in real estate development after starting his career in commercial brokerage. Mr. Freericks is an active contributor to Arizona organizations that enhance our community and business environment. He is the immediate past board chairman with Fighter Country Partnership (Luke Air Force Base), is a member of the DMB Associates, Inc. Board of Directors and participates in several industry associations.

Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Andy Beams oversees accounting, finance, treasury and related reporting functions for DMB Associates. As the CFO, he participates in mid and long-term capital planning and strategic business plan development and has participated in the underwriting, operating agreement and business plan development for substantially all of the projects in DMB’s portfolio.

Executive Vice President

Tim Kaehr is Executive Vice President and serves on the Executive Committee of DMB Associates, Inc. In this role, he oversees capital planning and strategic business development for many DMB projects. Mr. Kaehr was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for DMB Associates before joining the Executive Committee. He also serves as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee for Aid to Adoption of Special Kids (AASK), the largest foster care agency in Arizona.

Executive Vice President

Karrin Taylor is responsible for ongoing land use entitlement matters and other value enhancing efforts for DMB communities and businesses. Ms. Taylor also provides oversight for the Company’s government and political affairs efforts and economic development activities at the local, state and federal level. Ms. Taylor has been a member of DMB’s entitlements team for more than 15 years and has been responsible for the successful entitlement of many of the Company’s projects including Verrado, Marley Park, Centerpoint, One Scottsdale, DC Ranch and Eastmark.

Executive Leadership Mary Alexander

Mary S. Alexander, Esq.

Executive Vice President & General Counsel

Mary Alexander’s background in real estate includes extensive planned community development and public homebuilder experience. Her responsibilities have included land acquisition and entitlement, infrastructure planning and finance, public lands transactions, community governance structuring and documentation, sales contracting and regulatory approvals, employment matters, construction contracting and warranty enforcement. In her current position, Ms. Alexander supervises legal work for all DMB communities, in addition to overseeing the Company’s risk management and insurance programs. Ms. Alexander’s other areas of focus include litigation management and entity governance issues.

Senior Vice President of Finance

Eric Carlson oversees long-term capital planning, financial modeling/forecasting, due diligence, project life cycle capitalization, debt strategy, deal structuring, and investor/partner reporting. Mr. Carlson continues to work with members of the Entitlements and Development teams in negotiating development agreements and in facilitating economic development through public-private partnerships. Furthermore, he is responsible for managing project level financial risk and creates sophisticated financial models that are utilized in establishing appropriate development strategy.

Senior Vice President & President of Kukui`ula Development Company

Brent Herrington has earned a national reputation as a thought leader in the planning, design and development of large-scale planned communities and is a frequent lecturer and presenter on these topics. In his role at Kukui`ula, Mr. Herrington is responsible for development of a new 1,500 unit community located on the south shore of Kaua`i. Previously, Mr. Herrington served as General Manager for two of DMB’s signature communities, the DC Ranch and Silverleaf projects in north Scottsdale.

Senior Vice President of Sales

Jim Hoselton oversees the sales and marketing for all DMB communities. Since joining DMB in 1991, he has led the acquisition, development, initial creative phases, launch and management of numerous DMB resort-recreational communities including Kukui`ula, DC Ranch, Silverleaf, Lahontan, Martis Camp, Glenwild and Forest Highlands. He has also been responsible for the transitional phases of mature developments. Mr. Hoselton is a member of The Phoenix Thunderbirds and St. Barnabas on the Desert and is a past board member of the Paradise Valley Country Club and the University of Arizona Alumni Association.

Senior Vice President and General Manager of Verrado ARC

Nick Taratsas is primarily involved in the selection, analysis, acquisition, entitlement, planning, design, engineering and construction of many of DMB’s new and existing communities. Some of the communities Mr. Taratsas is currently working with are DC Ranch, Marley Park, Verrado, and Eastmark. Mr. Taratsas is also responsible for policies, procedures, methods of development, execution and organizational structure of the operation teams at each of the DMB communities.
